2 Ping-pong NGOs support ITTF’s ‘smash covid-19 away’ project

Two table tennis non-governmental organization (NGOs), has donated personal protective equipments (PPEs) and relief items to selected families as part of their ‘smash covid-19 away’ project.

It was done in collaboration with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The items included liquid soaps, hand sanitisers, tissue papers, gloves, cooking oil and bags of rice.

The Ghanaian NGOs, The Asoba Foundation based in Accra and the NK Foundation based in Takoradi joined representatives from the ITTF to donate the items to families of young table-tennis athletes in the Asoba Foundation to cushion them in the difficult times.

Asoba Foundation trains over 60 cadet players including national female cadet champion Emmanuella Yaa Kyere.

Vice-president of the project and CEO of NK foundation, Ishmael Abraham Armah, presenting the items, bemoaned the hardships covid-19 has brought to the country which has affected sports activities including table-tennis as the reason for the donation.

Coach of Asoba Foundation, Dora Sarpong appealed to Ghanaians to help put up a structure for the young athletes at the foundation. She expressed gratitude for the support received so far from benevolent people.

President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Mawuko Afadzinu on his part thanked the ITTF for the kind gesture.
