Learn skills of legislation fast from your seniors- Speaker to new MPs

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban SumanaKingsfodBagbin has urged all new Members of Parliament(MP) to learn the skills of legislation fast from their senior colleagues and appreciate the fact that the longer they stay as MPs the better they will become.

The Speaker stated that the MPs have been taken through enough training and have acquired enough information which will help them to do their mandated work.

Speaker Bagbin made these comments in his closing remarks at the end of a three-day Induction Seminar for all the new MPs held at Aqua Safari Resort at Ada in the Greater Accra Region, from February 6 to 8.

He stressed the fact that some senior members have been able to take the new members through sensitive and important topics because they took their time to learn and stayed longer as law makers.

He also urged the MPs to take advantage of the Private Member Motion which was passed at the later part of the Seventh Parliament, use well researched statements and other acceptable Parliamentary tools to do effective work during their tenure as MPs.
