37-year-old arrested for stealing goat

The Nigerian adage “everyday is for the thief, one day is for the owner” is, indeed, true. This is exactly what happened to Kwesi Nayiri Larbi, a  37-year-old unemployed man who was arrested by a group of men for stealing eight goats on Tuesday at ‘New York’ a suburb of Ashaiman and handed over to the Zenu-Atadeka Police, for investigation.

The District Crime Officer of Zenu-Atadeka Police Station, DSP (Rev) John Agbemabiese, narrating the incident to ‘The Spectator‘ at the crime scene, said the inhabitants of New York had been experiencing theft of their animals especially goats for some time now.

The Zenu-Atadeka Police in conjunction with various Neighbourhood Watch Committees have mounted a hunt for the goat thieves for the past months but to no avail.

However, on Tuesday at about 3:40pm, luck eluded the suspect as he brazenly conveyed eight live goats in an Opel Vectra with registration number ER 3313-X during one of his goat stealing escapades at New York to an unknown destination.

The group of men suspicious of the manner Larbi was carrying himself stopped the car for a search and upon seeing the stolen animals arrested him and handed him over to the police together with his booty.

The Crime Officer said few minutes after the arrest Mr Emmanuel Akuinor, a resident of Peaceland in the neighbourhood came to identify one of the goats as his.

He said Larbi would be charged after investigations and put before court for stealing.
