Accra College of Medicine distributes PPE to Adentan residents

The Accra College of Medicine in partnership with Adentan Municipal Assembly last Friday distributed personal protective equipment to residents within the municipality as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Assemblyman of Adjringanor Electoral Area, Mr Joseph Oddai Boye, who received the items, said it would complement those that had already been provided by government.

He led the team to distribute the items while some students of the college as well as staff of the municipality sensitised the residents on the virus and urged them to follow the various health and safety protocols.

Mr Boye expressed appreciation to the college and called on other institutions within the electoral area to take similar steps and reach out to individuals within their communities.

Professor Afua Hesse, President of Accra College of Medicine, said the gesture was prompted by the flouting of social distancing rules and other safety precautions by some members of the community where the college is located.

“Some of the residents go about their daily activities without face or nose masks. Their conduct can put everyone else at a risk hence we took the step to support government to help combat the disease,” she said.

The items included face masks, face shields and alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
