‘Ahwene Pa Nkasa’ to launch August 31

A book to celebrate the political life of former President John Dramani Mahama would be launched in Accra on August 31, 2020.

Authored by Alhaji Abdul-Rama Haruna Atta, a seasoned journalist, former Editor and former Ambassador, the two-part book is titled ‘Ahwene Pa Nkasa – Standing with JDM.’

According to him, the book is also a collection of the role of former President Jerry John Rawlings in Ghana’s politics as well as his personal experiences as the High Commissioner to Namibia and Botswana.

He said that the book contained a lot of propriety photographs of all his experiences which were personally taken by him as well as his opinions on diplomacy, Vienna Convention and diplomatic receptions.

Alhaji Haruna, in an interview, noted that the book was a summary of his personal and working relationship with former President Mahama.

He said that the first part included what he described as “Homeland Briefs’, which focused on matters including power challenges, popularly called “Dumsor”, Montie 3, GITMO 2 among other national issues that became topical during his (John Mahama’s) tenure as president.

The second part, he added, also focused on his (Alhaji Atta’s) diplomatic roles and diaspora engagement within the Southern Africa Region, how he nearly lost his life due to an ostrich and meeting some prominent leaders in Namibia and Botswana.

Although the book discusses former President Mahama, the writer said, it was not a political propaganda tool designed to influence voters but rather “a story about our lives and experiences.”
