Becca, Dr Javaka Moore donate medical equipment to public hospitals in Ghana

Ghanaian music diva, Rebecca Acheampong, affectionately called Becca together with a United States of American based Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, has donated some major medical equipment to some hospitals in the country.

Becca, on August 14, visited the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to commence the donation exercise.

According to her, during her delivery in the United States of America (USA) last year, she realised there were no nurses at the labour ward, however, they could monitor everything the baby was going through.

Becca, then asked what they were using, for which she was told it was fetal monitors, and it was against this backdrop that efforts were made through her Becca Hearts Foundation together with Dr Javaka Moore of Maryland, USA, to make the donations possible.

The items donated consisted of 131 fetal monitors, 51 patient monitors and 20 pulse oximeter.

These equipment would be shared amongst the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Teaching Hospital, Ho Hospital, National Cathedral Hospital and a few more public hospitals.

It is the aim of the two organisations that these would further assist with the monitoring of babies to ensure safety delivery to reduce death in public hospitals.

The availability of these machines would enable the hospitals to carry out mandatory monitoring of all pregnant women to ensure the safety of the unborn child and the mother.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare, and his management team hosted Becca at the hospital and expressed their excitement for the gesture.

Also in attendance was the Chief Medical Director of Ridge hospital, Dr Sefenyo and the Head of Neo-Natal, Korle-Bu Prof. Christabel Enweronu-Laryea.
