Rescue efforts continues in earnest in Turkey and Syria after they were hit by the regions deadliest earthquake in 20 years.

A week after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, more than 24,000 lives have been lost.

This has surpassed the more than 17,000 people killed in 1999 when a similar powerful earthquake hit northwest Turkey.

This notwithstanding there are efforts by rescue missions from China and other countries to save lives of those who are still alive but trapped under rubble.

The search and rescue dogs have been seen taking part in rescue efforts to locate people trapped under rubble.

With keen senses and training, these unsung saviors have succeeded in saving many victims, bringing hope and comfort to those affected by the earthquake.
