Multimedia Sports Journalist, Gary Al-Smith and four others have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a post on his facebook page, to announce the development, Gary revealed that he is one of the five staff who have tested positive for the virus.

“Hello friends,
As per this statement, Multimedia has recorded five cases of COVID-19. I’m one of the five,” he stated.

“After consultation with my family, we have decided that from tonight, I’ll be speaking on radio and TV about my experience,” Gary added.

The Sports Journalist further revealed “On this page, I will be chronicling my daily experiences and how I feel every step of the way.”

“My family and I believe this can be my small way of battling the stigmatisation problem we face in the country. I’m doing very well, thankfully, and everyone has been very supportive,” he added.

Management of the station earlier issued a statement to announce that five members of their team at the business office in Accra have tested positive for COVID-19

According to them, these members of staff who were contact-traced and tested by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) have tested positive for the Covid-19.

“The affected team members, who were all asymptomatic, have been isolated in line with case management protocols. Officials of the Ghana Healyh Service are monitoring them and we can report that they are all hale and hearty and responding well to treatment,” the statement added.

“As part of ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and our guests and to minimise any potential for the spread of the virus, we have ramped up internal contract tracing, in liaison with the Ghana Health Service,” the management noted.
