Organisers of Ghana Music Awards-USA (GMA-USA) have launched the 5th anniversary edition of the event in Ghana.

The launch which took place in Accra last Friday was attended by musicians and some industry players.

The unveiling officially commenced activities for the fifth anniversary which would be followed with the GMA-USA @5 Nominees Announcement/Anniversary Dinner on April 20, 2024 in the United States of America (USA).

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the scheme, Dennis Boafo expressed his appreciation to the various stakeholders for continuous support since the inception of the programme five years ago.

He said that even though they have encountered numerous challenges, the event has kept growing in leaps and bounds with the tremendous support from key industry stakeholders.

Mr. Boafo noted that the performing artistes for this edition would be announced later adding that the scheme is the only entertainment event which is rotated in the USA.

He said the event has been held in New York, Ohio, Virginia and New Jersey within the five years to ensure that Ghanaians living in every part of the USA experience the awards scheme.

Mr.Boafo revealed that nomination certificates initiated at the early stages of the scheme would be reintroduced and together with the team ensure every winner receives his or her plaque.

According the brain behind the event, there would be an exhibition for sponsors and other stakeholders to showcase their products ahead of the main event.

Touching on the reason for the ‘Music Can’t Stop Playing’ theme, Mr.Boafo revealed that it is aimed at ensuring that 100 percent of Ghanaian music is played throughout the event.

As part of the fifth anniversary celebration, there has been a tweak to the original logo of GMA-USA to properly represent Ghana and America connection.
