It is unfortunate EC has refused to listen to calls to expand registration centres- Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang

The 2020 running mate of former President John Dramani Mahama, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed disappointment at the Electoral Commission’s posture in the ongoing registration exercise.

The former running mate on Monday morning spent time at some district offices of the Electoral Commission with some Greater Accra Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), and the 2nd Deputy Minority Chief Whip to monitor the registration process as well as interact with some first time registrants.

After the monitoring, she went on social media to vent her disappointment in the process.

She wrote, “it is unfortunate that the EC has refused to listen to calls by well-meaning Ghanaians to expand registration centres beyond district offices in order to allow better and more convenient participation in the registration process.”

This notwithstanding, he added “We will continue to be resilient regardless.”

There have been calls by some political parties and civil society organisations urging the EC to increase the registration centres and not only limit it to their district offices.

However, in a press conference yesterday, the EC resolved to continue the registration exercise happening at the various district offices.
