The Katamanso Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) emerged winners of this year’s Inter District Quiz organised by the Tema Regional Fire Office.
The Competition dubbed “operation alert” which was participated by 13 Stations in the Tema Region was aimed at sharpening the alertness and strength of personnel as well as correcting their weaknesses.
The Dodowa, Ashaiman, Devtraco and Kasapreko fire station won the second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The Deputy Regional Fire Officer, Divisional Officer Grade I Timothy Osafo-Affum said the programme was held in two weeks and in two phases comprising theory and practicals.
He said the competition was to make the personnel ready for action in case of any eventuality since there were companies in their jurisdiction.
He disclosed that for the practicals, the Examination team paid unannounced visits to the various stations for various scenarios to test their turnout time and other factors to ensure they were well versed in the demands of the job.
The Deputy Regional Fire Officer commended the Katamanso Station for their victory and encouraged all personnel to be alert as no one could tell when there would be an emergency.
