• Others welcomed the new year with live band music

While thousands of worshippers gathered were praying to usher in the New Year (2023) in their various churches in the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern region, there were thousands of young people also on the principal streets with laser lights and firework on display celebrating the same occa­sion.

Most Rev. Philip Naameh, the President of Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the Archbishop of Tamale deliver­ing his sermon at the Our Lady of Annunciation (OLA) Catholic Cathedral in Tamale, urged members to ignore things that would deprive them of joy, but they should rather focus on doing good to others while working on their spiritual and physical being.

Steven Hedraod, a tourist from London and a first-time celebrant said he never ex­pected a huge turnout at such a celebration in Tamale.
