The State will be fully involved to give Christian Atsu a befitting burial – Veep 

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that the  State will be fully involved in providing Christian Atsu a befitting burial.

According to him, it is a very sad day to be at the airport to receive the mortal remains of a food son of Ghana.

He made these remarks last night at the airport when many loved ones gathered to receive the mortal remains of the late Ghanaian International.

The Vice President said, the tragedy was devastating and following that, Ghanaians fervently hoped that Atsu would be found alive,” but alas when he was found, he was no more.”

Dr Bawumia further expressed the government’s condolences to the entire family and the football fraternity for the loss.

“It is a painful loss, we pray for the soul of Christian Atsu to rest in peace,” he said.

The Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo sent his condolences to Christian Atsu’s wife, children and the entire family.

He said the football fraternity was saddened to hear the news of the untimely demise of Christian Atsu.

Mr. Addo said the FA will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to give Atsu a befitting burial.

Also,  the Head of the Twasam Family of Ada, Nene Twasam, expressed his appreciation to the government for facilitating the return of mortal remains of their son to Ghana.

He thanked the people of  Ghana for their solidarity, prayers and support when the earthquake struck in Turkey.

Atsu’s remains was later sent to the 37 military Hospitals pending funeral arrangements.
