Uphill task for Hearts in Bibiani today

The excitement of the 2022/2023 betPawa Ghana Premier League (GPL) continues this weekend with Matchday 21 fixtures across all league centres.

Aside the match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and King Faisal which had been postponed due to the unavailability of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, all matches will take centre stage as the battle for top-spot and drive to escape relegation would be in contention.

After beating arch rivals Kotoko to win the President’s Cup last weekend, Hearts of Oak would be beaming with confidence as they face off with Bibiani Gold Stars today at the Bibiani Dun’s Park.

Following consecutive defeats and the call for the sacking of head coach Slavko Matic, Hearts bounced back strongly to lift the President’s Cup and should be determined to clinch another win to set themselves back in contention for the league title.

The likes of Linda Mtange and Konadu Yiadom displayed a master-class on Sunday and would hope to continue their fine form, going into today’s game.

League leaders Aduana Stars face a tough test when they square off with Medeama SC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Stadium tomorrow in a top-liner fixture.

Sixth-placed Medeama are desperate to climb into top-four and would be fired up to secure a win to move up the table, while Aduana appear motivated to maintain their top spot and prevent the chasing pack from getting ahead.

Accra Great Olympics host Samartex FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in a must-win game for the hosts who are lying 13th on the league table and must clinch all three points to prevent slipping into the relegation zone.

Samartex on the other hand, are moving steadily towards a top-four place and a win would be a huge boost to the team as they are also determined to stay in the premiership next season.

At the Theatre of Dreams at Dawu, Kotoku Royals will host third-placed Bechem United for another cagey encounter with the guest looking forward to keeping the pressure on top of the table.

Elsewhere, Real Tamale United (RTU) and Tamale City square off at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in the local derby, while Karela United and Nsoatreman would do battle at the CAM Park.

Berekum Chelsea face off with Legon Cities at the Golden City Park, while the match between Accra Lions and Dreams FC would be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
