Working Together, Bouncing Back Together: 66th Independence Day in pictures

In line with the regional rotation regime, it was the turn of the Volta Region to host the 66th Independence Day Celebrations in style.

Critics, as usual, said there was nothing to celebrate but the region, clearly, was prepared to host and showcase its rich heritage to the hundreds of dignitaries who turned up for the event.

The parade at the Volta Regional Youth Resource Centre at Adaklu-Tsrefe, near Ho, was well attended by members of the various security agencies, students and pupils from senior high schools and basic schools respectively in the municipality, as well as representatives of various groups.

The occasion was graced by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who was the special guest of honour and President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea Bissau, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Community West African States (ECOWAS).

Held on the theme:“Working Together, Bouncing Back Together,” many took the opportunity to express their patriotism in diverse ways.

Apart from the beautiful images captured at parades across the region, some celebrities and citizens dressed in colourful Kente and other indigenous outfits to celebrate the day.

Here are some extras of the celebrations as captured by photographers who were out and about.
