The Chief Executive Officer of Dodi Travel and Tours has been named Ambassador for Destination West Africa Project(DWAP) for three-year duration.

The Destination West Africa Project (DWAP) seeks to improve intra-African travel and trade among West African countries to help accelerate development of the sub region.

Speaking at a brief ceremony on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Lancaster Hotel in Accra, Co-Founder of Goge Africa, Isaac Mosses said the initiative would throw spotlight on tourism potentials of West Africa and instill interest to travel in them within the ECOWAS community.

According to him, people found it expensive travelling within West Africa but would rather go to Dubai, adding that “the numerous barriers also contribute to this unfortunate phenomenon, leading to low contribution of the sector to Gross Domestic Product of various countries.”

Against this backdrop, like minds came together to embark on this initiative to promote culinary, festivals, and other tourist sites to lead to investment and trade among others to surge business and others in the value chain.

He added that in view of the valuable contribution to hospitality and Tourism in Ghana over the years, Goge Africa and its partners considered Mr.Ahmed Naaman, the CEO of Dodi Travel and Tours as an asset to the West African Tourism Ecosystem and had conferred on him an Ambassador for Destination West Project in Ghana.

Also, Co-founder and Managing Director of GOGE Africa, Nneka Isaac Mosses, said Mr.Naaman’s valuable contribution to the tourism sector in Ghana led to his appointment as ambassador.

On his part, Mr. Naaman said it was an honour done him to represent a dream which would at the end empower West Africa.

“When we promote business within the ECOWAS and able to spend local currencies, it would help reduce the pressure on the dollar and sustain local economies,” he said.

Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi was present at the event.
