Ampem Darkoa Ladies miss CAF Women’s Champions finals

Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ miss out on the CAF Women’s Champions League title as the team succumbed to a 3-2 lost on penalties to AS Casablanca in the semifinals in San Pedro.

Despite putting up a spirited performance, the Ghanaian champions could not make use of the many chances created at goal.

Comfort Yeboah and Jennifer Owusuaa gave Ampem Darkoa the lead with goals in the 6th and 39th minutes, respectively before a controversial penalty, awarded without VAR intervention, leveled the score for AS Casablanca.

In the second half, Comfort Yeboah’s goal-line clearance denied AS Casablanca the lead. Despite a keenly contested extra time, the deadlock persisted, leading to a penalty shootout.

AS Casablanca advanced to the final in the end, winning 3-2 on penalties and securing a spot in the final where they come up against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ampem Darkoa will now face ASFAR of Morocco in the third and fourth place off on Saturday February 18th,2023.
