Ejisu by-election underway

Ejisu by-election underway

The people of Ejisu constituency in Ashanti Region are currently voting to elect the successor of the late Member of Parliament, John Kumah.

The former MP who was also deputy Minister of Finance untimely passed away on March 7, after a short illness.

Against this backdrop, the Electoral Commission set today, Tuesday, April 30, to fill the vacant seat.

For this reason, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) voted for Kwabena Boateng on April 13, 2024, from about nine contenders to vie for the seat and uphold the party’s position.

Surprisingly, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opted out of the by-election.

Interestingly, he faces formidable opposition from former constituency MP of the area, Kwabena Aduomi, who runs independently after parting ways with the NPP.

The EC has expressed its readiness with measures put in place for a free and fair election process.

The results will be declared at the Coalition Centre, located at the Catholic Church in Ejisu.
