Africa Soccer Fiesta airs on GTV Sports+ tonight

The fifth edition of the 13-part sports documentary series dubbed African Soccer Fiesta will be aired on GTV Sports+ tonight at 8 pm

Tonight’s thrilling programme is anchored by a veteran sports presenter and lawyer. Mr Moses Foh Amoaning will take viewers on a journey through AFCON memory lane, beginning with the 1972 tournament staged in Cameroon and won by Congo Brazaville led by the mercurial Francois Mpele and Nbono Sosio.

The 1974 AFCON held in Egypt was dominated by a Zaire side that had been built over eight years by the infamous Mobutu Sese Seko.

The then Zaire strongman, according to Mr Foh Amoaning, took copious notes from Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah’s model of Real Republicans.

Mr Amoaning said following the success of the Real Republicans concept, Mr Sese Seko formed a club side and named it Englebert Club, a side that served as the base for the all-conquering 1974 team that made history as the first black African team to qualify for the 1974 World Cup in Germany.

“The young football aficionados can not miss the timeless archival footage that highlights the superlative skills of Guinea’s Amara toure, Papa Camara and Bengally Sylla in the 1976 edition of the tournament.

Unfortunately, the Syli National of Guinea was pipped to the ultimate African football diadem by the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

Mr Foh Amoaning said tonight’s edition will feature Coach Christopher Nimley who will throw his ubiquitous tactical searchlights on the Super Eagles of Nigeria and loyal viewers of the series to be made aware of the winners of the preceding four programmes.

The African Soccer Fiesta is shown live on Fridays with a repeat on Wednesdays and is sponsored by Hisense.
