Chairman Wontumi appears before Kumasi Traditional Council

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako affectionately called Chairman Wontumi has finally appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council.

This follows an ultimatum by the Traditional Council that he should be produced within seven days when the General Secretary of NPP, Justin Koduah Frimpong appeared before them last week to apologise on his behalf for alleged derogatory comments.

Chairman Wontumi appeared before the Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace today in the company of the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary of the party, Justin Koduah Frimpong, Chieftaincy Minister Asamoah Boateng,National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, NPP National Treasurer Dr. Charles Dwamena, Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Ose-Mensah,and various other NPP regional executives

It would be recalled that the Members of the Kumasi Traditional Council on Thursday, January 22, 2024, directed the NPP, led by its General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, to produce Chairman Wontumi to appear before them over alleged derogatory remarks against the Asantehene.

It follows an altercation between Mr. Antwi Boasiako and the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua, at the recent vetting of parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region.

Chairman Wontumi has ever since denied the accusations, however, he was invited by the traditional council for a hearing, an invitation he failed to honor on health grounds.

The Traditional Council is expected to communicate their decision on the matter after meeting Chairman Wontumi and his entourage.
