Most successful people want to build something they can leave behind as their legacy. While many brands fade away, they want theirs to be the ones to make an impact. Gabriel T. Ruz Jr.  believes that he’s done the work necessary to create a legacy for himself, and he wants to talk about what’s required to make it happen. 

Gabriel T. Ruz Jr. is a board member at Magaya. He made many of the company’s early sales. He now continues to drive corporate revenue through new products, sales initiatives, alliances, and acquisitions.

The first thing he suggests to create a legacy is to work extremely hard at the beginning of your career. “When many entrepreneurs start their first careers, they’re younger and have more time and energy to dedicate to their business,” said Gabriel T. Ruz Jr. “They need to make use of that time and build up their businesses as much as possible.” Once your company is established, you may have more time to work on other projects or spend leisure time doing things you love. However, in the beginning, you need to push through. 

Hard work isn’t enough to build a legacy, however. This can result in lots of money, but you need more than that. Gabriel T. Ruz Jr. suggests using your money and time to make an impact on your community. That starts with your employees. “Be the best boss that you can, and give your employees the compensation and benefits they deserve,” he said. “They’ll be much more loyal to you.” That also means volunteering or giving money to causes you love in your community. You can also inspire new entrepreneurs to start their journey. 

Unfortunately, you can’t just build your legacy by making lots of money. You need to impact your community in order to truly leave a mark on the world that will resonate long after you’re gone.
