GFA reveal reasons for absence of Partey, Painstil and Inaki from Black Stars squad

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has detailed reasons for the omission of Thomas Partey, Joseph Painstil and Inaki Williams from the latest Black Stars squad to face Nigeria and Uganda.

The omission which happened to the first call-up of re-engaged Otto Addo caused a lot of rancour on social media.

Against this backdrop, the GFA decided to set the record straight.

On Joseph Painstil, they said as a result of his move to the United States of America (USA), there are some further immigration documentation procedures he must embark upon and that is why he is unable to travel outside the USA until the process is completed.

Touching on the absence of Thomas Partey, the FA said the player asked to be excused from the game to gain full fitness following recent injuries.

On Inaki Williams, they noted that he pulled out of the games to have some rest and fully recover from recent injury setbacks.

Ghana will take on Nigeria on Friday March 22, and Uganda on March 26 in Morocco in FIFA friendlies.
