Hundreds thrilled at ‘5 Hours With Mario’ stage play

It was an atmosphere filled with applause, smiles laced with emotions at the National Theatre on September 3, 2022, and 4 as hundreds were thrilled with exciting display by NaaAshorkor in ‘5 Hours With Mario’.

The play which is an adaptation of Spanish writer,‘5 Hours With Mario’ was a partnership between Playwright LatifAbubakar and the Spanish Embassy in Ghana.

The play tells the story of Dzidzor, a who after the death of her husband, Mario, watches over his body and sheds light on their respective personalities and conflicts throughout their marriage.

Being one of the best and most popular Spanish novel, Five Hours with Mario

 is a very moving and fluid book with touches of comedy by renowned Spanish writer Miguel Delibes.

The novel addresses two of the author’s favourite themes: the authenticity of rural life compared with life in the city, and death as the ultimate and definitive milestone in human life.

The success of the work led to its transfer first to the theatre and then to the cinema

The play which is being adapted into a Ghanaian and Afrocentric stage play touched the patrons who commended the organisers for a good job done.
