Fairtrade premium committee, an organ under the umbrella of Golden Exotic Limited, producers of bananas for export have donated medical consumables and health items worth GH¢134,745.00 to three health facilities and some communities in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.

The beneficiary facilities include Shai Osudoku District Hospital, Army Recruits Training School Clinic and Asutsuare Health Centre.

The communities are Osuwem, Asutsuare, Kasunya, Akuse, Natriku and Volivo.

The items include non- contact thermometers, surgical mask, hand sanitisers, surgical disposable gloves, overall PPE kits and medical gloves.

Making the presentation, the corporate affairs manager of Golden Exotic Limited, Mr. George Kporye  said the presentation was a token contribution of the company to combat the raging pandemic.

He said the donation was also to help protect the staff of the company who live at different locations in the district whenever they visit the hospital.

“We have about 2,800 workers who come from the community and we owe it a duty to protect them”, he said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the beneficiaries, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shai Osudoku District Assembly, Mr. Daniel Akuffo expressed much appreciation to the donor organisation adding that the items had come in handy and would, to a large extent, support health delivery in the area.

A Medical Superintendent of the Shai Osudoku Hospital, Dr. Kennedy Brightson used the occasion to advise the public to always mask up while in public to forestall any chance of catching or infecting others with the virus.

He urged the public to avoid touching the front of the mask regularly anytime it drops which could happen if inferior material is used adding ,however, that the mask could be adjusted by holding the elastic at the side.
